A good how to article, although it is a pretty straight forward process. The point below may be the only problem on how to get the external drive available to format:

To fix the problem System > Preferences > Removable Drives and Media and deselect the following options

• Mount removable drives when hot-plugged
• Mount Removable Media When Inserted
• Browse Removable Media When Inserted

I caught the movie Derailed last night.

Excellant film. Good acting. All around nice movie. I would recommend it. Usually I figure out the movie before the twist but this time I only had a hunch, which really impresses me when a movie can pull one over on me.
