iPod Video

So I finally got myself one of those iPod videos. I got the 60 GB model and couldn’t be more happy.

I ended up finding a used one from someone that wanted to upgrade to the new 80 GB models. I never thought I would use that much space but now I’m not so sure anymore.

It’s amazing how fast it fills up with videos and podcasts…

Target takes advantage of their “sheep” shoppers

As some of you may know, Bismarck is getting a Super Target or Grand Target or some kinda Target to replace our not-so-grand Target.

In hopes of clearing the shelves so they do not have to move as much they are using tactics such as “temporary price cut” stickers and sign that amount to minuscule savings but big signage.

Funny thing is, is that it works.

Yesterday we went there for a few supplies and were there at noon when the store opened and the entire entrance was full, waiting for the doors to open. Similar to the mayhem that happens in the wee hours of the morning following Thanksgiving.

I walked through most of the store, checking prices, while Tandra picked out the items she needed. I came to the conclusion that any savings on items in the store were already beat by Super Wal-Marts already low prices.

Funny this was, people couldn’t get the stuff in their carts fast enough!

Thoughts on the Iraqi War

This was passed onto me today and I love the response!

One of my sons serves in the military. He is still stateside, here in California. He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were to him, and his troops, everywhere he goes, telling me how people shake their hands, and thank them for being willing to serve, and fight, for not only our own freedoms but so that others may have them also

But he also told me about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday, on his way home from the base. He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman dressed in a burkha. He said when she got to the cashier she loudly remarked about the U.S. flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock. The cashier reached up and touched the pin, and said proudly,” Yes, I always wear it and probably always will.”

The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.

A gentleman standing behind my son stepped forward, putting his arm around my son’s shoulders, and nodding towards my son, said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman: “Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn’t need to be there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I’ll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that you are obviously here in MY country to avoid.” Everyone within hearing distance cheered!

Getting Ready for Winter

Not much going on here thats newsworthy. Just getting ready for winter by winterizing all the toys (camper, jet skis, pool, sprinklers…)

I got a new camera last weekend (Canon SD450) which I really like. Check my flickr account for some new photos.

iTunes 7 crashes on Win XP Pro VM

Apple announced the release of iTunes 7 today. I installed it on a Windows XP Pro virtual machine to see what all the fuss was about and it looks pretty spiffy at first glance. I then clicked on the “movies” link in the iTunes store and the whole app crashed.

Apparently we need to wait for the next release to get VM stability…

Apple Movie Store

Apple will announce the release of its movie store today. If the quoted prices (~$15/movie) are correct I think they are in for a surprise in the lack of sales.

Why would I pay $15 for a movie that I can buy at Walmart for the same and have on DVD with all the trailers, menus, and extra stuff included?

Trump fired Carolyn

I found it interesting that the Donald fired his right hand man, I mean woman.

I guess no one is safe!

Another one bites the dust

kristy.jpg Word on the street is that Jason and Kristy are now engaged. Congrats to both of you!

Sorry Jason I couldn’t find a photo of you two together but I thought this picture of Kristy and Russ at Sarah and Brenden’s Wedding was amusing and would do the job!

RIM announces the Blackberry Pearl

8100_Front.jpg

Today is a good day so far. RIM announced the Blackberry Pearl. For those of you who don’t know, I am an avid Blackberry loser user and would not give it up for any other phone. Now the Pearl adds the one thing I have been missing, a camera! I can’t wait to get one of these once Verizon supports it.
