I took a day of vacation from work today. Not really vacation though because I need to write a speech for college. The good part is though, that since I picked the topic I can reuse it as marketing material for my company.
Well actually a thumb. Drive that is. Microsoft is giving away a free thumb drive to individuals that fill out a few questions. The drive is filled with useful Microsoft marketing materials. It does not mention the size of the drive, but hey its free. BTW the answers to the questions are listed on the page linked.
My question? How many people actually look at the stuff on the drive before wiping it and using it for their own use? Enjoy!

I have been using a service called GotVoice for some time now and forgot to blog about it. That’s how great this system works. I have integrated it into my life now for about a month and it has gone without fail the entire time. The best news about this service is that it is free.
Once you sign up for a free account you enter in your phone number and carrier, an yes it even works in North Dakota so it should work anywhere in the US. Then you follow a couple instructions and allow them to dial your phone to get all hooked up and you’re set. Takes about 10 minutes to set up and you can even set it up to check up to 3 times a day for voicemail on any time schedule you choose. (phone call required, just ignore the call)
Great service for the money. I think I would even pay for this, cause it is a very simple way to make short podcasts as it delivers the voicemails into your email as mp3 files. Now I just need to find the time to create a podcast!

Apple released iTunes 6.0.4 today which is supposed to address stability issues with FrontRow. Maybe my 2nd generation iPod will mysteriously sync again…
Apple also released Security Update 2006-001 today which looks like it deals with Apache but prolly also addresses the recent virus/worm targeted at OS X. Both available via the Software Update panel.

I finally sat down and watched the 40 Year Old Virgin over the weekend and it is definitely a must see. 5 out of 5 stars. Oh, and to all the people that think I look like the stoner in the movie, get a life. It’s not that close. OK maybe a little.

Yes, Tandra did get a Hummer H3 on Saturday. We bought it from Gateway Chevrolet in Fargo. These vehicles really are “like nothing else“. I would never have believed the driving experience would be like it is. I’m just glad Tandra has let me drive it a few times and promised that I can take it to work one day!
Saturday turned out to be a long day as we were only going to “test drive” one. After some finagling we got a great price from Charlie out there. I think they really wanted to sell one to Bismarck and get their name out here along with a little word of mouth marketing. So if your in the market for an H3 and from the Midwest, give Charlie a ring at Gateway Chevrolet in Fargo.

It looks like Microsoft is going after the cool factor that has been Apple’s baby for quite some time now. Project Origami appears to be something I have wanted ever since the tablet came out but no one ever made it. There is a video here that apparently was leaked before Microsoft was ready as they are stating March 2nd as a release date. While trying to unearth some more facts or video I stumbled on this Slashdork link, apparently some things never change. I think the anti-Microsoft has even amplified in recent months. Say what you want about Microsoft, but at least the evangelists don’t live in their parents basement.

Apple had their big event today. What did they announce? Nothing really. An overpriced iPod stereo and sleeve and an Intel Mac Mini. I am kinda excited about the Mac mini just because I am kinda in the market for a media center and this is getting real close now that it comes with FrontRow. I think I will still wait though. Bummer, I was really hoping for a new iPod as I am looking to upgrade my 2nd generation iPod that now longer is recognized by my computer since I upgraded to iTunes 6.
